Using a 10-stop ND filter To Take Long Exposure Images

By | Photography | No Comments

I’ve been working through taking landscape shots lately, and though I’d take a break from the basic stuff, and write and article about something fun to play around with – get away from all the Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO stuff – HAHA Yeah right.

Anyway…

If you aren’t familiar with this type of filter, it’s basically a very strong neutral density (ND) filter which reduces the amount of light hitting the camera’s sensor by about 1000 times. ND filters are very common but they are typically only 3-stops in strength (reducing the amount of light by 8 times) so a 10-sop one is pretty extreme. But what else are you to do, when you want to take a long exposure shot, when it’s daylight? Read More

Refresher Course

By | Photography | No Comments

As an enthusiast and hobby photographer, I’ve always enjoyed playing around with my cameras. During high school you could find me walking around with my 35 mm film camera taking candid shots of family gatherings, and into my college days using my first digital camera to document my life as an art major. Here we are – I’m not going to say how many years, because that will just make me feel old – and I’m a wife to my wonderful husband and mother to my handsome baby boy, and deciding all these years later that I want to start a new business. This is he result. Kelli Cleveland Studios. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this is going to be a walk in the park, but it is something that I enjoy and therefore something that deserves my effort and time. This blog is where I will be posting articles written by me, discussing, explaining and studying some of the topics that I have had to revisit in order to get back into this “photography thing”. Stop by to see if I can help you understand anything better, and hopefully we can learn together. Happy shooting.
